Mt Everest

Mt Everest 8848mtrs, known as Sagarmāthā in Nepal in Tibetan as Chomolungma, Jason Black became the first person in history from Donegal to summit Mt Everest and did so via the Northface on 19-05-2013 at 7am. The Earth‘s highest mountain above sea level is located in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas. The international border between China (Tibet Autonomous Region) and Nepal  runs across its summit point.e

K2 – Located in Pakistan and is known as the Savage Mountain due to the extreme difficulty of its ascent, scaling the massive obstacles in K2 makes it the mountaineers mountain.  Jason Black wrote himself into history as the first ROI summiteer and survivor on 22nd July 2018 at 6am. It is the second-highest mountain in the world at 28,252ft. With around 320 successful summits, It is more difficult and hazardous to reach the peak of K2 than any other in the world and then you’ve got to get back down.

Denali is the tallest land-based mountain on Earth. In 2014 the route selected by Jason Black was the difficult West Rib approach. Extreme weather conditions brought the expedition to a premature end but the door has been left open to return. Denali is the highest mountain peak in North America—with a summit elevation of 20,310 feet. Denali is the third most prominent and third most isolated peak, after Mount Everest and Aconcagua.

Aconcagua is the highest mountain outside Asia, at 6,960.8 metres (22,837 ft), and the highest point in the Southern Hemisphere located in the Andes mountain range, in the Mendoza ProvinceArgentina

Jason Black opened his Adventure account by successfully summiting the highest mountain in south America and one of the elusive seven summits. His attempt was riddled with extreme weather conditions and the worst weather recorded in 30 years with a 95% failure rate forcing his five other team members to abandon the climb and retreat. However Jason Black’s personal self belief and strong will to survive allowed him to persevere with the hardships, eventually solo summiting the mountain on 13th January 2016 and in doing so setting a new mountaineering record climbing expedition style from Argentina base-camp to the summit 22,834ft direct and traversing to Mulas base-camp on the other side in 32hrs in what should have taken fifteen days allowing for a progressive acclimatisation – an incredible physical feat.

Mount Kilimanjaro  with its three volcanic cones, “Kibo”, “Mawenzi”, and “Shira”, is a dormant volcano in Tanzania. It is the highest mountain in Africa,  5,895 metres (19,341 ft) above sea level. 19,349ft highest mountain on the African continent.
In 2015 Jason Black shocked the mountaineering world speed climbing the mountain in full mountaineering style (complete expedition carry) west-2-east and back with a double summit in 22.5hrs setting the world mountaineering record to the roof of Africa.

Mt Elbrus is the highest mountain in Europe, and the tenth most prominent peak in the world. It has two summits, both of which are dormant volcanic domes. The taller west summit is 5,642 metres (18,510 ft), the east summit is 5,621 metres (18,442 ft).

In June of 2017 Jason black was successful on summiting the west summit solo and in one push Europe’s highest mountain in Russia in just 18hrs (Up and Down) – limits like fear are often just an illusion.

Mont Blanc

Le Mont Blanc ItalianMonte Bianco meaning “White Mountain” is Jason Black’s training ground and a mountain that he truly loves.  He can been seen on the mountain on a regular basis with great friends, approaching from multi directions. Mt Blanc rises 4,808.7 m (15,777 ft) above sea level and is ranked 11th in the world in topographic prominence. The mountain stands in a range called the Graian Alps, between the regions of Aosta ValleyItaly, and Savoie and Haute-SavoieFrance. The areas surrounding Mt Blanc makes for the perfect winter ice & rescue & Ski mountaineering training in Europe and in summer the incredible rock make for the perfect bouldering playground.

Imja Tse

Imja Tse, better known as Island Peak standing at 6,189mtrs – Jason Black was successful on the mountain summiting in 2012 and it proved to be a vital part to his Mt Everest mountaineering apprenticeship. Island peak located at the head of the Kumba in Sagarmatha National Park in the Himalayas in Eastern Nepal. The peak was named Island Peak in 1951 by Eric Shipton‘s party since it appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. The peak was later renamed in 1983 to Imja Tse but Island Peak remains the popular choice. The peak is actually an extension of the ridge coming down off the south end of Lhotse Shar

Eco Challange Fiji

Eco-Challenge is the ultimate expedition race in which international teams of adventure athletes will race non-stop, 24 hours a day, across hundreds of miles of rugged backcountry terrain complete with mountains, jungles and oceans. Each team is comprised of a racing team of four competitors and must include at least one member of the opposite sex, plus one assistant crew member. The race will encompass a variety of non-motorized forms of transportation including outrigger paddling, mountain biking, rappelling, climbing, whitewater rafting, pack rafting and paddle boarding. Navigation must be done with map and compass only and teams will be required to use expedition problem-solving skills in their quest for the finish line.

The first team to complete the entire course and cross the finish line will be the winner. If a team loses a member along the way, whether due to injury, exhaustion or disagreement, they will be disqualified. Only teams that can work together under extreme stress and fatigue have any hope of reaching the finish.

Eco-Challenge Fiji is true expedition racing, where adventure meets sport. As our host nation, Fiji will deliver stunning terrain including volcanic cliffs, remote villages and turquoise seas … but it will also provide seemingly impenetrable barriers of dense jungle, rushing rivers, narrow canyons and coral reefs.
